Volunteering
The size, scope, and complexity of MerleFest has grown dramatically since the festival's beginning in 1988. The festival could not possibly have reached its present size without a large and dedicated group of volunteers.

Volunteer Quotes

"The most memorable thing for me as a musician was to witness and experience the kindness of so many artists like T. Michael Coleman, Vassar Clements, and Peter Rowan showed their fans by the stage both before and after their sets"
Christine Aurea (Romine); Ashville, North Carolina

"I love hearing the old-time stories from a elderly volunteer I was working with."
Adam Canter; Blacksburg, Virginia

"Jimmy Ibbotson (NGDB) coming to our stage with a lasso. When asked for a picture, he hugged me like we were old friends. Got to dig that Colorado love. Also, Chris Thile and his usual bundle of energy juggling balls beside the stage after the set."
Brad Martin, Burlington, North Carolina

"MerleFest is such a special experience and I love being a part of it."
Mikaila Mills, Ashville, North Carolina

"Volunteering for MerleFest enhances my experience every time."
Erin Paige Mirrett, Portland, Oregon

During each MerleFest, we interview many of our volunteers to solicit their feelings about the festival. We're sure these will provide many interesting comments to share here for the benefit and enjoyment of everyone.
